How have I made a difference?
As part of the MSc in Marketing, Consumption & Society programme at UL I led a team of 11 people in planning, designing, branding and delivering an event in association with the Get Back Challenge 2010. The event aimed to help tackle the problems of cancer by addressing the issues of obesity among young people though encouraging and facilitating sports participation. We managed to reach an audience of 381,000 people all within a €200 budget.
What makes the difference?
Ian believes that our daily consumption practices are by-products of our early environments when our consumer instincts and behaviours were first honed by being around our immediate family. As we get develop and grow we reach certain milestones of choice where are consumer behaviour can go in a myriad of directions; it’s at this point that our hardwire consumption practices come into play and whether we realise it or not they reflect our consumption choices.
